Best "Open Fit" Digital Hearing Aid (Receiver in the Ear):

Oticon Delta, as it offers cutting edge design, great sound quality and is very cosmetically appealing.  Users can also choose the color of the outer casing of the hearing aid and can be changed at the local audiologist/hearing aid dispenser's office

Phonak Micro Savia, as it is one of the most full featured yet easy instrument for patients to use.  It can be programmed to be automatic and switch programs on it's own when you enter different noise environments or can be controlled by the user via various remote control devices.

Resound Airs--Can`t fault them , almost invisible from the front , they would be from the back if I had hair .The clarity is fabulous , they are so light and the open fit doesn`t give you that bunged up feeling .You can actually feel fresh air around your ears .My consultant sees me every six months to give them a tweak , if they need it , money well spent Smiley

I have sever and profound hearing loss and for 17 years have worn two Seimens Prisma hearing aids supplied by the NHS. These it would seem were the strongest that my NHS trust supplied and left a lot to be desired.  I decided to purchase two Phonak naida hearing aids from a private company and my goodness what a vast difference they make to my hearing, I can't believe the inproved performance and clarity that these have given me and I have only had them for 4 hours.  The audiologist that fitted them told me that they can only get better once he returns and give them a further adjustment.  I can even hear the TV without my loop system now which I could not do before.

It is a very good aid! Are you aware that it can be used with a remote control called My Pilot.

I am having problems getting a decent pair of aids that work well. I have moderate high-freq hearing loss. I currently have 2 NHS Oticon Spirits (old technology now), which only help a little. I have tried the Unitron Element 16 Moda, and the Phonak Audeo 5 too (both from the same company), but both had feedback / whistling problems, esp when playing the violin .. which is what I do for many hours a day. The aids are open-fit, with small domes (not the 'buttercup' type). No amount of re-calibration by the audiologists could get rid of the feedback (even when standing 2 feet away from a wall).

From what I understand, both of these aids have a hard-coded feedback control routine which is run at setup. How about hearing aids with dynamic feedback control, which could have true real-time feedback cancellation? Does anyone have experience of these, or experienced  feedback from previous models?

Thanks

Jim
