Being a collector of old hearing instruments and a wearer of modern hearing aids , it is amazing how far we have come in such a short space of time . We`ve gone from trumpets and conversation tubes , which did work , albeit very basic , to the first electric aids , which were enormous objects , not very practical really .Then came the first body worn aids which were considerably bulky with seperate battery pouches strapped to your body , to the self contained body aids of the transistor age , 1952 onwards , which got smaller as technology grew .
Then came more recognizable hearing aids , the first BTE`s , a little bulky at first but getting smaller over time .Then came the digital age , in ear hearing aids and digital BTE`s .Quality wise we have gone to the moon and back , I`m just gratefull I didn`t screw my hearing up when I was a lot younger
