News: Attention all users. There has recently been a mishap which caused many users accounts to be deleted or set to Guest, but keeping all posts in tact. Whales can hear and send sounds underwater as far as 530 miles away! The low frequency pulses made by blue whales, for example, have been measured up to 188 dB, making them the loudest sounds emitted by any living source!

Vampire bats and fruit bats have, by far, however, the most acute hearing of any terrestrial creatures, roughly 10 times the human limit. Their ultrasonic echolocation devices - also known as ears - can detect frequencies as high as 210,000 Hz!
