Hello folks, I'm 55 years old, male, a violinist, and have moderate hearing loss (noticable in the last 5 years), mostly high frequency. Speech is hard to follow, and obviously I miss the all the other high frequency sounds of nature, etc, have difficulty following speech when background noise is present. I have a pair of NHS Oticon Spirits for the last 4 years, which help a bit, but I'm looking for something a bit better to improve the quality of life.
My hearing loss is not caused by excessive noise in the past - it's just the common 'sensorineural hearing loss' .. I hate saying 'age-related', as I think that's quite meaningless - after all, all manner of things, including natural death, are age-related!
I also suffer from constant, high-tone, binaural tinnitus, and I only mention this because suitable hearing aids with high can can help to mask the sound.
I'm having problems getting a decent pair of aids that works for me, so I'll be asking some questions as I look through the subject threads!
Thanks,
Jim
